About the prototype

Loneliness is a widespread issue among older adults and has negative effects on both mental and physical health. A significant proportion of older people globally report feeling lonely, highlighting the need for accessible and scalable solutions. The proposed app aims to reduce loneliness by connecting elderly with local social activities such as bingo, dog walking, and knitting. These activities provide opportunities to meet new people, form friendships, and explore new interests. An integrated AI assistant supports users by helping them navigate the app, book activities, and arrange transportation, lowering barriers to participation and ensuring a smooth and reassuring experience. To encourage sustained engagement, the app includes a reward system where users earn points for attending activities and receive a free activity after reaching a certain number. This approach motivates elderly to stay active, socially connected, and engaged in their communities.
